Halloween at our Edgware Nursery
This Halloween, we added a fresh twist to our celebrations at Uxbridge Cheeky Chums Nursery by organising a delightful Halloween competition. Moving away from our traditional pumpkin carving contest, this year we invited parents and their children to collaborate on crafting unique and creative Halloween hats. The response was truly inspiring—our families wholeheartedly embraced the challenge, showcasing incredible imagination and creativity in their designs.
The Halloween hats were a stunning display of originality, with many families incorporating recycled materials, which added a thoughtful and eco-friendly element to the competition. The hats also reflected the children’s Halloween-themed interests, from spooky spiders and ghosts to magical witches and bats, making each creation deeply personal and special. While it was an incredibly tough decision to pick a winner, the clever use of materials, imaginative themes, and active child involvement made one design stand out.
Our Halloween celebrations extended beyond the competition, providing a day packed with fun and engaging activities that the children absolutely loved. They dressed up in an array of enchanting costumes, bringing the spirit of Halloween to life throughout the nursery.
The activities were carefully planned to spark curiosity and encourage hands-on exploration. The children enjoyed mixing colourful “potions” during our potion-making activity, a magical experiment that combined creativity and sensory play. They also explored the textures and shapes of pumpkins, fostering a sense of wonder and discovery. For our little nature enthusiasts, observing real insects and bugs provided a fascinating and slightly spooky connection to the natural world. The day wouldn’t be complete without slime—sticky, squishy, and oh-so-fun to explore, it was a favourite among the children.
